Social networks have turned against Cecotec, which has confirmed the failure that users have been reporting in Spain for days. It all started, it seems, June 2nd, when users started experiencing bugs that prevented them from using their cheap robot vacuum cleaner because they couldn’t connect to the company’s servers. Therefore, they could not handle them.
Cecotec vacuum cleaners do not work well
Other users could handle the vacuum cleaners, but there were connection failures that caused the robot to do strange things around the house, such as bumping into the wall, erasing the maps, etc.
The solutions provided by the company have been of no use. The technical service has even blamed the operators’ routers for having released a software update that has made them incompatible with their robot vacuum cleaners. As a recommendation they asked to create a 2.4 GHz guest WiFi network that does not automatically switch between 2.4 and 5 GHz, but that didn’t solve the problem either.

Yesterday, 8 of June, Cecotec published a statement on social networks in which they finally acknowledge that the failure is their fault, and that they are working to solve it as soon as possible. The tweet was published yesterday afternoon, and they claimed that the application and the service could be down for hours.

Use it manually, only solution
However, they have not published new information in this regard, and the service is still not working, as we see in the complaints of users published this morning. The company also offered as a solution to use the Conga robots manually, for which it is necessary to reset them by pressing the Home button for 5 seconds until you hear a beep. After that, you have to press again until you hear an announcement, and from there the cleaning begins by pressing the central button. The problem with this mode is that it executes the last configuration that was set from the app, so if we set it to clean a room or temporarily restrict any area, the robot will not go to it.
Therefore, the only thing to do is wait for the company to fix a rather strange bug that even they don’t seem to know how to fix at the moment. Is currently impossible to add a new robot vacuum cleaner to the application, so if you have bought it in the last week, you will not be able to use it. In the case of having one added, you can’t set it, so chaos is authentic in the Cecotec ecosystem.
